This artifact is a compilation of K-12 development cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional, and physical growth. This can be referred back to to remind educators what is developmentally appropriate in the classroom. In a second-grade classroom, a new teacher might be shocked when her student slides off his chair onto the floor, but as we can see that is typical behavior. Or a middle school teacher may be frustrated when her students are extroverted one day and the next they are dismissive and refuse to participate, but that is typical development as well. Knowing what is typical behavior in your classroom can allow us to stay patient and in a way not be frightened by some of it.
